Air Alone Closing Reception 5/31 and Penpals for Palestine! Pop-Up Postcards

Please join us Saturday, May 31st, 1-4 pm for the closing reception of Air Alone (from my dream). Come see the work of Kim Altomare and Melina Ausikaitis and stay for art making events presented by  Penpals for Palestine! We will be working on postcards that will be sent to our collaborator in Palestine, Yaqeen Yamani, for an international correspondence art experiment on the theme of water and ritual. Additionally, there will be a paint making workshop, paper making demos and a collaborative mobile mural. Activities are designed for ages 0-100.

Facilitating artists include Kim Altomare, Cindy Stockton Moore, Tracy Chahwan, Sunny Hsu and Michelle Anne Harris, with directive prompts provided remotely by Yaqeen Yamani and Jericho Cinema Club.

Penpals for Palestine! is an experimental correspondence art exchange highlighting the voices of the youth of Philly and the youth of Jericho facilitated by Michelle Anne Harris and Kim Altomare in collaboration with Jericho based artist Yaqeen Yamani. Throughout 2025, they will facilitate community workshops throughout Philadelphia to create handmade books and paper correspondence art that will be sent back and forth to Yamani for response at community events in Jericho with the Jericho Cinema Club. This project is generously supported by the Velocity Fund.
